The 2nd Round of Political Consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and the Republic of Turkey held in Ankara City, Turkey, to assess and discuss different aspects of bilateral relations, regional and international cooperation, recent developments in the region, security challenges and common threats
Recalling the good, friendly and historic ties between the two countries, Deputy Foreign Minister Mr. Hekmat Khalil Karzai expressed his appreciation for the cooperation of the Republic of Turkey in the last one and a half decade with Afghanistan. He also underlined the need for further cooperation between the two countries on common threat against regional countries, including terrorism, violent extremism and destructive actions by ISIS.
Afterwards, Mr. Umit Yalcin Deputy Foreign Minister of Turkey emphasized the continuation of his country’s cooperation with Afghanistan. He added that the people and government of Turkey want peace and everlasting stability in Afghanistan, and they will support any effort in this regard.
In the meeting, both sides discussed and exchanged views on the recent developments in the region, including Afghanistan’s peace process, ISIS presence in the region and common security threats.
