Minister of Foreign Affairs H.E. Salahuddin Rabbani met this afternoon with the delegation of the Swedish Parliament, headed by Ms. Margareta Cederfelt member of the Swedish Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Relations and Deputy Chair for the Swedish Delegation to the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe.
In the meeting, Mr. Krister Ornfjader, Mr. Goran Pettersson and Mr. Anders Osterberg members of the Swedish Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Relations and Mr. Anders Sjoberg Swedish Ambassador to Kabul were also present.
At the outset, Minister Rabbani expressed his sympathies on the recent terrorist attack in the Swedish capital Stockholm as well as briefed on security situation and threats in Afghanistan during the new season of war. He also added that the Afghan security and defense forces are fighting every day in different parts of the country to suppress enemy and various terrorist groups’ attacks and so far they have good achievements in this field.
While referring to the long historic ties between Afghanistan and Sweden, Mr. Rabbani stated that the cooperation of the Swedish Committee with the Afghan people in education and health sectors over the last three and a half decades, as well as the cooperation this country in different political, security and economic spheres in the last one and a half decades is a good example of friendly relations between the two countries.
In return, Ms. Cederfelt said that her country is a good friend of Afghanistan and wants a modern and peaceful Afghanistan to have an elected democratic government in which the human rights values, including women’s rights are respected.
