At the outset, Mr. Rabbani talked on issues related to security challenges, achievements of Afghanistan’s Security and Defence Forces, recent progresses of the government in peace process, reforms in different spheres and counter corruption. He also thanked the U.S. government’s cooperation with Afghanistan in different fields, especially peace and stability.
Mr. Rabbani also expressed his appreciation for the support and constant emphasis of Senator McCain for continued cooperation of the United States with Afghanistan.
In return, Senator McCain called the United States support very essential for Afghanistan in different areas, particularly in consolidating security and stability, and reassured of his country’s perpetual cooperation in this regard. He also emphasized that the new U.S. administration attaches importance to its relations with Afghanistan and the internal changes in the administration would not weaken our commitment in this regard.
