Foreign Minister Meets with the President of Tajikistan

Foreign Minister Salahuddin Rabbani met with the president of Tajikistan H.E Emomali Rahmon in Tajikistan’s Presidential Palace during an official trip to Dushanbe this afternoon.
At the outset, the Tajik President welcomed the Afghan Foreign Minister to Dushanbe and expressed his pleasure and hope for further development of good relationship between the two brother and neighboring countries.
The President of Tajikistan pointed out numerous common opportunities in the region for mutual economic cooperation. He called peace, stability, and economic welfare in Afghanistan very valuable for his country and expressed his assurance that Tajikistan would stay committed to continuing good relationship and fruitful cooperation with Afghanistan.
Having expressed his appreciation for the opportunity to meet the president of Tajikistan, Foreign Minister Rabbani gave the Tajik President information about political and security situation, the recent progress made in Afghanistan, future priorities of the government in various fields like the Peace Process, and achievements of the Afghan Security and Defense Forces in the fight against terrorism. He emphasized that Afghanistan is very interested in extensive cooperation with Tajikistan in different fields like economic convergence; connecting the region through transiting energy; and fighting against common concerns, challenges, and threats.
After the meeting, Foreign Minister Rabbani told the media about the achievements of his official trip to Tajikistan.
