Foreign Minister Meets Germany Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan

091215-2Minister of Foreign Affairs Salahuddin Rabbani after his arrival in Islamabad met with Special Representative of the Federal Government for Afghanistan and Pakistan Ambassador Sabine Sparwasser.

In this meeting, Ambassador Sparwasser expressed happiness over the participation of Afghan high level delegation in the Fifth Ministerial Meeting of Heart of Asia-Istanbul Process, and said that Germany wants to host International Contact Group Meeting early next year.

She added, “As it decided in the last week meeting of NATO’s foreign ministers, Federal Republic of Germany will continue its military presence in the frame work of “Resolute Support Mission” in Afghanistan.

Subsequently, Foreign Minister thanked Federal Republic of Germany for the extension of its military mission with a considerable number of security forces in the framework of RS Mission, and called visit of the president to Berlin with great achievements.

Foreign Minister added: “Mindful of various countries citizens’ presence in ISIS ranks, regional countries instead of expressing concern over ISIS presence and activities in Afghanistan, shall take practical steps in fighting against this phenomenon and other old and new emerged security threats.”

The Fifth Ministerial Meeting of Heart of Asia-Istanbul Process is going to be launched titled as “Enhanced Cooperation for Countering Terrorism and Promoting Connectivity in the Heart of Asia Region” in the capital city of Pakistan, Islamabad, tomorrow.

This meeting will be inaugurated by President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan H.E. Mohammad Ashraf Ghani and Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan H.E. Mohammad Nawaz Sharif, and then be convened under the co-chairmanship of Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Salahuddin Rabbani and Advisor to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs of Pakistan Sartaj Aziz.
