Embassy’s diplomats have attended Securing Asia and Africa 2014 Conference

45421Mr. Hanif Ahmadzai the Political Counsellor and Mr. Daud Wedah First Secretary of the Embassy attended the Securing Asia & Africa 2014 Conference which was held in Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre in London on the 14 & 15 July 2014. Securing Asia & Africa 2014 is a pioneer event organised by the organisation called Global Energy bringing together stakeholder from two continents under one roof. The Summit had participation from leading experts and senior government decision makers in homeland security, counter-terrorism and defence discussing and sharing their requirements for new products/services and also to look at the opportunities to develop their existing capabilities. In the Course of the two days program, the Conference addressed issues around the themes such as Global Security Trends, Threats and Challenges; Border and Coastal Security; Safe and Secure Cities; Protection of Critical Energy Infrastructure Assets and Critical Industries; Security of Transport: Air, Rail and Mass Transit Systems &Training and Modernisation in Homeland Security and Defence.

The Embassy’s diplomats who have attended the Conference have actively engaged in the discussions throughout the program and reflected upon the progress made in Afghanistan particularly in the light of the Political and Security transition in 2014. Major General Ashok Mehta Convenor, Indian Policy Group on Afghanistan has delivered a speech in the conference on Afghanistan in post 2014 titled “Deluge or Damage Control? Only Regional Approach may work” where he highlighted the Political, Security and Economic developments in Afghanistan in the light of transition process in 2014. He emphasized the need for regional approach and International Community’s support for it in strengthening the long lasting peace and security across the region.
