Dr. Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai Meets Iran’s Vice President

Dr. Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai Meets Iran’s Vice PresidentDr. Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai, the President of Afghanistan, met yesterday with Iran’s Vice President for executive affairs, Shariatmadari, in Arg.

In this meeting, Mr. Shariatmadari congratulated the new Afghan President on his victory and conveyed the best wishes of Iran’s President to Dr. Ahmadzai.

Shariatmadari said that within the past 13 years, Iran and Afghanistan have enjoyed good and productive bilateral relations.

The Iranian Vice President praised President Karzai’s wise leadership in making the peaceful transfer of power possible.

Insisting on extending his country’s cooperation with Afghanistan, Shariatmadari said, “We desire peace and stability in Afghanistan, and we will work on facilitating the education opportunities for Afghan migrants in Iran.”

 

President Ahmadzai thanked Iran’s Vice President for participating in the inauguration ceremony and reminded the importance of Chabahar port in expansion of economic ties between the two countries.

Thanking Iran for providing education facilities for Afghan migrants, the President said it was important to further pave the ground for Afghanistan exports to reach Iranian markets.

President Ahmadzai insisted, “Afghanistan relations with other counties shall not undermine its relations with Iran, and as the former government has always insisted, no countries will face any threat from the soil of Afghanistan.”
