Afghan Embassy Laid Wreath at the Cenotaph Memorial to mark “The International Day of United- Nations Peacekeepers”

Chargé  d’  Affaires  Mr.  Ahmad Zia Siamak  of the  Embassy  of  the  Islamic  Republic  of  Afghanistan  in  London  participated at a wreath laying memorial ceremony at the cenotaph memorial  in  Whitehall on  Wednesday the 20th May 2015. The ceremony was organized by UNA-UK in partnership with the Royal United Services Institute for defense and Security Studies and UNA Westminster.

Over 100 embassies organizations and veterans laid wreaths in remembrance of those who have lost their lives in the service of peace since UN peace operations began in 1948.

 IMG_4050Now in its 13th year, the ceremony brought diplomats,  military  personnel  and  United  Nations  veterans  from  around  the  world,  with  civil society  and  the  public,  to  recognize  the  service  of  United  Nations  Peacekeepers  and  remembrance of  those who have lost their lives in the cause for peace.
