The All-Party Parliamentary Group on Women, Peace, and Security convened to launch the report ‘The Cycle of Struggle, A Human Security Perspective on Afghanistan’s IDP Women’. The report, built on research done over the past six years by the organisation ‘Women’s Regional Network’, provides a cross-sectional snapshot of the IDP issue in Afghanistan. The launch comprised of a panel discussion, wherein Political Counsellor Hanif Ahmadzai commented on the approach of the Afghan government by emphasising the importance of enhanced collaboration between the government and humanitarian organisations to further capture the voices of marginalised IDP women. Other panellists included Barin Sultani Haymon, the author of the report, Mandana Hendessi, Senior Technical Advisor on Women Peace and Security for ActionAid UK, and Mirian Lopez-Villegas, Shelter Adviser for the Norwegian Refugee Council. Ending the event, the Q&A-session presented an interesting discussion with new insights and perspectives being shared amongst the participants.
